We are opening our doors to the public in April 2012 located in the heart of the Berkshires. We will be offering classes and independent studio time. We will also be opening a small consignment gallery featuring local artists.
The following classes will be offered:
Fusing glass is a unique way to create beautiful art out of pieces of sheet glass. You can create mosaic plates, holiday ornaments, candleholders, coaster sets, and much more! The fusing classes are offered as a 4-week course for a more in depth process or as a single class.
Glassblowing is the art of shaping a mass of glass that is softened by heat and blowing air into it through a tube. In our 6-week course, you will learn the art of glassblowing to create both functional and decorative work. We will also focus on orientation, safety and fundamentals such as gathering, centering, blocking, marvering and proper shop etiquette.
Cast glass involves directing molten glass, which has been heated to temperatures ranging from 1300 to 1700 degrees, into molds and allowing it to solidify, whereby an object in the shape of the mold is created. In this 6-week course, students will create original sculptural glass objects; learn about firing schedules, glass compatibility, annealing and various glass coldworking techniques.
